Due to previously unimaginable constraints on our time, Myanna and I have retired this blog to focus on publishing, performing, and teaching.

After a fantastic summer chamber music program, with groups at all levels performing music by Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, and more, Myanna and I are currently figuring our fall schedules. Current students who have been away should be in touch as soon as possible, as the schedules are nearly set. Prospective students are welcome to inquire about availability, however current students do get priority with scheduling.
Looking forward to a great fall of cello teaching! Area students are invited to sign up for Summer Chamber Music at the end of June. We've had some wonderful chamber music sessions in the past years and Myanna and I are looking forward to some great music camaraderie and playing this year!
Congratulations to Matthew, Randy, and Natalya for their great work at PMEA All-State Orchestra! Myanna and I are so very proud of them!
Looking at my long-awaited copy of the piano accompaniment to Phyllis Rowe's wonderful book "Warm-Up & Play" that I got from the Library of Congress. Published in 1974 by Belwin, it is no longer in print, and what a shame! It is a simple book, free of clutter and pretense. On each left-hand page, there are exercises specific to the song on the right-hand page. And the songs; what beautiful songs: a number of Russian pieces (Prokofiev, Rebikov, Shostakovich), and supremely playable.
Congratulations to the following students: Matthew, Eunice, Ray, and Randy (students of Myanna) and Andrew, Natalya, and Rachel (students of Cassia) on their acceptance into the PMEA Regional Orchestra! We're so proud of the work they've done. Best of luck at the upcoming seating auditions!
Congratulations to Matthew (violin student of Myanna Harvey) who placed first in violin, and to Andrew (cello student of Cassia Harvey) who placed first in cello, in the recent auditions for 2012 District Orchestra!
Congratulations to Natalya (cello student of Cassia) who just won the YOBC Concerto Competition!
Congratulations to Crystal (cello student of Cassia) who was accepted into the 2011 MENC All-National Honor Orchestra!
Congratulations to the amazing Randy and Elliot (viola students of Myanna), who placed first and second at PMEA All-State Orchestra!
